Hi Folks,

I see the wiki server has crashed again. I'm out of town today so the
soonest I'll get to it is Monday morning. I think the hardware (which is
approaching the 15-year mark!) has reached the end of its useful life.

I've been putting off migrating the wiki to a new server, but now it seems
this is going to happen sooner rather than later. Let me see how things
look when I do an initial data export; I'm planning on giving a status
update this week.

Things are not looking good. The server locked up again shortly after
the reboot. I did get some kind of error message trying to access the
wiki about the MySQL server.

So after another reboot, I've (for now) shut down Apache. I've got a
full database dump copied off of the system, so that's good.

I've been trying to get the XML dump going, because that'll be easier
to import into the new server, however I'm getting a not-very-helpful
error message that it can't connect to the database, but it doesn't
say why.

More news as it happens.
